Michael served on the Board of the Australia Indonesia Business Council (AIBC) 2015-2019. www.aibc.com.au and provided education sector input to the Indonesia Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) Trade negotiations. He is an Honorary Fellow of the University of Technology Sydney. Michael was a co- founder of Insearch Language Centre UTS (1987), Australia’s first public private partnership in international education. In 1994 he established the Australia Centre Medan, North Sumatra which had its 25th anniversary in 2019. www.acmedan.com. It is a regional Indonesia education and English language centre. Michael works across all education sectors with a regional focus on ASEAN and India. Clients have included Study NSW on transnational delivery of VET; the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) on their ASEAN Strategy, TAFE Directors Australia (TDA) and TAFE NSW in relation to Skills Training in Indonesia. In 2020 Michael provided strategic education sector advisory with Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare in Malaysia and ASEAN, the Northern Territory Government and Australian universities on TNE partnership with Indonesia. Asean Focus Group was the only Australian finalist in the highly coveted “PIEoneer of the Year Awards” announced in London in October 2020 by The PIE News for its work in initiating and convening the annual ASEAN Australia Education Dialogue- AAED.
