Joining the Country spotlight: Malaysia panel discussion

Thomson is awarded the Malaysian-Australian Distinguished Alumnus of the Year 2019 by the Australian High Commission in Malaysia. He is currently an independent consultant at ASEAN Focus Group specialising in the Malaysia -Australia education relationship. Prior to this, Thomson was a special advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education’s Education Malaysia Australia (EMA). He was instrumental in the instigation of the first official visit of the then Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh to Australia, which has resulted in the signing of the partnership between Malaysian Polytechnics and TAFE Sydney and the inauguration of the Malaysia-Australia Tertiary Education Conference. Thomson co-convenes the ASEAN-Australia Education Dialogue (AAED) which was held in Malaysia in 2018 and again in 2019. He also won the International Alumni of the Year - PIEoneer Awards 2020.
